Part 141 and Part 61
Flight training in the US runs under two sets of FAA rules. Part 141 schools hold an FAA school certificate, follow approved course outlines and are inspected by the FAA. Part 61 instruction has no school certificate, so there is no official FAA list of it.
Part 141 schools are the ones the FAA lists, so they come first here. Part 61 schools and instructors are planned. Neither route is better in itself, and the right choice depends on your goals, budget and schedule.
