Frequently asked questions
How many flight schools are there in Florida?
The FAA lists 84 Part 141 pilot schools with a Florida address, based at 47 airports. Many more instructors and flying clubs teach under Part 61, which has no FAA school certificate, and they are not listed here yet.
What is the difference between Part 61 and Part 141?
Part 141 schools hold an FAA certificate, follow FAA-approved course outlines and are inspected by the FAA. Part 61 training is flexible and has no school certificate. Neither is better on its own. The right choice depends on your goals, budget and schedule.
How do I choose a flight school?
Visit your shortlist, ask to see the aircraft you would train in, and talk to current students. Compare the aircraft, the airport and how often the weather lets you fly. This directory shows those facts from public records. It does not rate or rank schools.
Where does the information come from?
School names, certificate numbers and addresses come from the FAA Part 141 list, updated 12 October 2026. Aircraft come from the FAA aircraft registry. Weather statistics come from hourly airport reports from 2021 to 2025.
